Demoscene
Small programs that just draw something beautiful, from points on a sphere in 1998 to a fire intro with scrolling text in 2002. Most are a few dozen lines that write straight into video memory.
Programs
PIX 1998
A cloud of points on a sphere, projected with sine and cosine, that rotates, collapses and expands; seven projection modes, colour and sound switches.
Geyser 1998
A fountain of a thousand particles with gravity and bounces.
Fire 2000
A fire screensaver: a classic cellular fire with text burning in the flames. “Welcome to IVA vision 2000… It is screen saver version 0.1.”
Optika 2001
Ray optics: 181 rays bend through a lens surface by its slope, and every step adds brightness, so the focus and the caustics glow.
Demo 08 2002
An intro with fire and a scrolling text that invites everyone to kindex.times.lv and to play Doom RF.
Puziri 2002
“Bubbles”: every pixel is coloured by the nearest of 80 random centres, which gives a Voronoi-like picture. My port to my own graphics unit of an algorithm by another author.
